We all aspire to feel energized, inspired, and capable of achieving our goals. Yet, too often, the journey to success can feel like a grind, exhausting rather than uplifting. What if the key lies not in the tasks we undertake, but in the energy we infuse into them?

Becoming a coach as a second career, especially “at my age,” felt a little crazy at first. Although coaching and mentoring had always been part of my leadership journey, stepping into this role as a formal profession raised questions I hadn’t anticipated. 

Vulnerability can feel like peering over the edge of a cliff, exposed and hopeful that someone is there to embrace our raw selves. A recent conversation with a client highlighted this beautifully when she expressed, “If I’m going to be vulnerable, I expect a high return on that emotional investment.”

Every leader faces moments where choices must be made, some small, some monumental. It might be deciding whether to pursue a new opportunity, choosing between competing priorities, or determining how to navigate uncertainty. Regardless of scale, one truth remains constant: leadership is defined by decision-making.

Influence transcends simple persuasion or charisma; it embodies the ability to inspire action, generate ideas, and create opportunities through the trust and credibility cultivated over time. In my work with women navigating career transitions or stepping into higher levels of leadership, I have witnessed that influence is one of the most potent skills for achieving professional aspirations.
